How we use customer data

The Vintage Tack Room uses customer data in two main ways.

- to complete customer orders made online or over the phone

- to send news, information and product updates to customers who subscribe to our newsletter via our website or at trade shows. This news may be general or it may be personalised to customers based on historic activity.

- we also offer a 'search' service on request whereby we will contact you if an item you are looking for becomes available

Customer data 

To enable us to complete your purchase transaction we use data including your name, billing and shipping address, telephone numbers and emails. We don't have access to your payment details. The systems we use for billing store and encrypt your payment information so that we can make refunds if required. Customers are offered the ability to create an account which stores their contact information and enables them to view past orders.

Customer signing up to our newsletter provide us with their name, email address and optional information on interests, gender and how you wish us to get in touch.

Information and data vendors we use

The Vintage Tack Room uses Bigcommerce for hosting our online retail store. BigCommerce complies with the EU's General Data Protection Regulation. Credit card processing is conducted via Stripe and also via PayPal. We currently also offer payment by cheque.

We have integrated the marketing platform MailChimp with our online store. MailChimp offers GDPR-compliant sign up forms. We use MailChimp to send subscribed customers our company news and marketing information and it also combines contact information and preferences with historic store purchases.

We allow customers to tell us how they would like us to contact them & customers can control or change these methods any time. We offer email contact and customised online advertising contact which at VTR means potentially getting in touch via social media or Google. Our default method of marketing communication is via email. If you have subscribed to our newsletter and for any reason haven't let us know your preferences we will assume your preference is email only.

We don't share information with third party marketeers. We may share your postal address with a supplier for the purposes of shipping your purchased item to you if we believe it is in your best interests. 

Customer access to data

Customers can unsubscribe from our news marketing at any time, either by clicking the unsubscribe link on our emails or simply by calling or writing to us at 

We can also provide customers with the data we hold if it is requested.
